Can we use 50 Hz transformer on 60Hz?

What will happen if the 50 hz transformer is connected with 60hz power supply?

It can work, in fact, the transformer is usable in circuits ranging from 45Hz to 60Hz. The transformer 50/60Hz is widely accepted to be universal in use. The materials are the same, but there is a variation in the number of turns. Transformer coils operating at a power supply frequency of 50Hz require a little more per volt than those that operate at a power supply frequency of 60Hz. Thus, we find that the cores of both transformers are exactly the same, their corresponding winding voltage is the same, and the wire diameters are the same. On the other hand, the windings of the two transformers working on 60 Hz have fewer turns and a lower DC resistance value. For this case, the DC resistance of the coil can be compared with the same voltage and current. The transformer works at 60Hz, but because the number of winding turns is a bit less, the core design can be reduced. This would reduce the weight and make the volume of the high frequency transformer smaller. Since the iron core size of transformers with the same iron core size works with a 60Hz supply, the power rating will also increase because the wire diameter will be larger. Therefore, using a 50Hz transformer in a 60Hz power source is not a problem.
